Formation 接続

Noun + について, optionally with は/も, before a clause. Before another noun: noun + についての + noun.

Explanation 説明

Identify the topic of speaking, asking, learning, writing, or thinking. Add no when modifying another noun. It is not generally interchangeable with ni taishite when the noun is the target of an action rather than its topic.

日本にっぽんの歴史れきしについて勉強べんきょうしています。

I am studying Japanese history.
将来しょうらいの仕事しごとについて、家族かぞくと話はなしました。

I talked with my family about my future work.
この町まちについての本ほんを探さがしています。

I am looking for a book about this town.
申もうし込こみ方法ほうほうについて、質問しつもんがあります。

I have a question about the application procedure.

How related patterns differ 比較

について and に関して introduce a topic, with に関して being relatively formal. に対して often marks the target of an action; にとって marks an evaluative standpoint. において sets a context, while における and に関する modify a following noun.

～における	In; at; concerning, when modifying a noun	学校がっこうにおける安全あんぜん対策たいさくについて話はなし合あいました。 We discussed safety measures in schools.
～に関する／に関して	Concerning; with regard to; related to	環境かんきょうに関かんする本ほんを図書館としょかんで借かりました。 I borrowed a book about the environment from the library.
～に対して	Toward; in response to; in contrast to	先生せんせいは学生がくせいに対たいして、いつも丁寧ていねいに話はなします。 The teacher always speaks politely to students.
