Explanation 説明

The main uses are together with someone or something, having another quality or action at the same time, and a change accompanying another change. The change use often takes verbs such as fueru or susumu. It is more formal than to issho ni.

  1. 家族かぞくとともに、新あたらしい町まちへ引ひっ越こしました。

    I moved to a new town together with my family.

  2. 春はるの訪おとずれとともに、庭にわの花はなが咲さき始はじめました。

    As spring arrived, the flowers in the garden began to bloom.

  3. 年としを重かさねるとともに、健康けんこうの大切たいせつさが分わかってきました。

    As I have grown older, I have come to understand the importance of health.

  4. この仕事しごとは技術ぎじゅつを学まなべるとともに、人ひととの出会であいも多おおいです。

    This job lets me learn technical skills and also meet many people.

  5. 人口じんこうが増ふえるとともに、住宅じゅうたくも増ふえています。

    As the population increases, the number of homes is also increasing.

How related patterns differ 比較

につれて often links naturally developing changes. にともなって can introduce consequences or measures accompanying a change. にしたがって can also mean following instructions, and とともに can mean together with. つつある focuses on an ongoing process of change.
